Abstract
The Hureau’s flounder, Engyprosopon hureaui Quéro et Golani, 1990 is first recorded from Taiwan based on a female specimen and fresh photographs of an unretained specimen. Even though it has been recorded from sparse localities in the Indo – West Pacific, it has never been recorded from Taiwan. The presently reported specimen fills the distribution gap in the northwestern Pacific Ocean between Japan and New Caledonia. A detailed description of the specimen is provided and compared to data of other specimens, with morphological variations noted. Additionally, a revised key to the 12 species of Engyprosopon from Taiwan is provided.
