The purpose of this project was to conduct systematic surveys for butterflies, dragonflies, and reptiles in agricultural areas on the island of Taiwan. The survey corresponded to the Taiwan Breeding Bird Survey (BBS Taiwan) sampling areas, in which a 15km wide, east-west oriented, north-south crossing belt was set up in the hilly and agricultural environment. 3-5 sampling grids were selected in each crossing belt, and 6 bird survey sample points were selected in each sampling grid. A 200m transect line was set up with each sample point as the center, and the sample line is as similar as possible to the surrounding habitat types. The surveys were conducted in 2018 in Miaoli, Changhua, and Yunlin, in 2019 in Miaoli, Chiayi, and Tainan, in 2020 in Taoyuan and Hsinchu, and in 2021 in Yilan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung, in 2022 in Hualien and Taitung. Detailed survey methods and forms can be found at the link: https://reurl.cc/oZEDNj. The survey design mainly focuses on butterflies. Dragonflies and reptiles were surveyed as ancillary.
